5 Tips For Dry Skin

We've all been told we have a 'type' of skin, namely, one of oily, sensitive, dry, normal or combination. Frankly, the truth is that we all have a little of each of the above, after all, what is 'normal' skin? Consume plenty of Vitamin C

Vitamin C is essential for your body's daily functioning from protecting cells to helping your wounds to heal. Vitamin C also helps to facilitate the production of collagen which is the most important protein in helping the suppleness and integrity of your skin's tissue. Start your day with a fresh glass of orange juice and then make sure you consume lots of fruits and vegetables such as red and green peppers, strawberries, blackcurrants and broccoli, all of which are rich in vitamin C.

Avoid lots of direct sunlight

Ever stayed out in the sun for too long, found you've been sun-burned and had your skin start peeling? Well, it just goes to show how much damage the sun can really do. Protecting your skin from the sun's rays will go far to help prevent your skin from ageing and drying as well as from wrinkles, sagging and potentially skin cancer. You won't be able to completely avoid the sun but you can minimize exposure which will help keep your skin from drying out, becoming red and flaky.

Don't over exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin should be a part of everyone's skincare routine. It helps remove dead and patchy skin but over-exfoliating can end up doing more harm than good. Hot water strips the natural oils from your skin leading to increased dryness in your skin. By using lukewarm water you help keep the natural oils locked into dry skin, preventing it from becoming even more dry whilst allowing your cleanser, moisturizer and other skin care products to work most effectively.
